Exams#

You cannot pass the course without taking and passing either the final exam or the resit exam. See Grading for details.

The course has three exams: a midterm exam, a final exam, and a resit exam. The midterm exam takes place halfway through the course and splits the course into two parts: A and B. The midterm covers only the content from the first half of the course (part A). The final exam and the resit exam both cover the full content of the course (part A and part B).

The exams cover the content from the lectures, tutorials, and book chapters. The table below shows which chapters are covered by which exams. Chapters are (almost) fully covered, partially covered, or not covered. See the reading guide for details on which boo chapters and sections are covered by the exam.

Exam Grading#

You can earn up to 7500 points with the exams.

Exam Parts A and B consist of 10 and 15 questions respectively. Every question is worth 300 points, for a total of 7500 points.

To compute your final grade, we add your maximum number of correct questions across the three attempts for part A (midterm, final, and resit) to your maximum number of correct questions across the two attempts for part B (final and resit). This means, among other things, that you can redo the midterm during the final, and that your midterm only counts if it improves your score.
